(Short release)
In order to have a deeper and more profound understanding of life, it is undoubtedly essential to understand the concept of dualities. Giving continuation to his previous series “Derived Memories,” the idea of duality, ideologies, grey areas, etc., were persistent while becoming the tonic of this new series.—I personally recognize Duality to be a fundamental tool for expansion, and self-growth; while the gray areas allow us to establish a direction as we interact with life. Appreciating different sides brings more tolerance and empathy into our lives.”
In a way, dualism is the concept that forces us to look at and understand the opposite side in order to comprehend the other. For instance, simplistic and yet effective examples are the dualities of hot-cold, young-old, and black-white. Hence, a simple and controlled monochromatic application of colors were used to convey this sense of duality. Black spots migrate into white spots; white areas incorporate black ones as it displays a balanced flux motion. In contrast to his previous series, in which the sculptural forms possess a more “static” look, this time, dynamic energy is a prevalent part of the visual theme. “I wanted to portray a clear idea of continuation, not just by using similar tools, but also by taking the concept of the humanoid figures further into socially relevant themes.” Figures that appear tribal and of ritualistic nature, creating a majestic and alive atmosphere in the way they are displayed.
